What We Do

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Family Promise of Northern Kentucky is a sheltering program specifically designed for families.  A maximum of four families, no more than fourteen individuals may be admitted into the program at one time.

Each family will have dinner, spend the night and eat breakfast at local churches for one week at a time on a rotating schedule.  While a guest at each church, volunteers will prepare meals and serve as hosts.

The volunteers are community residents who recognize that any family can lose its home, and that it takes time to find affordable housing.  They volunteer to help ease the crisis each families face by offering temporary, safe, secure, comfortable lodging and home cooked meals.

The Case Manager will meet with each family at least once a week to discuss housing and employment possibilities and to assist in finding social services that may be helpful.

During the day, the families will be at the Day Center, 336 West 9th St. Newport, KY 41071.  Families may use this address and phone number as their contact information.

FPNKY may provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, job searches, job interviews, and social service appointments, etc. during the hours of 9am and 3pm.

This is not a “normal” time in the families' lives, and they may be feeling a lot of stress.  Many people will be volunteering to make the Day Center as comfortable as possible and to offer support and hospitality while working towards goals of employment and housing.
